Day the Second: Glaschu

on
And on the second day, a sticky toffee pudding was also eaten.

Seasons: Counting the weather outside the train on the journey north, I’d say three.

Steps: 7,897

Size of bathroom: It fits in a cupboard.

BUT: The shower dial HAS TEMPERATURES ON IT so you are not surprised by how hot or cold the water ends up being. Why do we not all have this? Get with the program world.

See what they did there?

This is not my first trip to Glasgow. I came with flatmates when I was still freshly off the plane and beyond naïve (but thinking I was so worldly) for the usual touristy tour — Kelvingrove, the Necropolis, the Cathedral, the double decker bus. I saw Eddie Izzard at the Armadillo. I came for many concerts (wish I could remember whose they were).

Yet it feels as though I’ve never really been here until now. I’m looking forward to spending some true time here.

Today was mostly travel. 5+ hours on the train north. Seeing a dear friend in person for the first time in ten years. Planning and purchasing our tickets to Edinburgh tomorrow. We had a couple of jet lagged meanders on our search for pub food, leading to a moment of serendipity:

Yes. Technically it is summer here.

Quite by accident, I found the Willow Tea Rooms!! Alas, I had opted out of my Mackintosh-inspired tam for the blue one … but it is only my first day in the city.

I would like to request a photo of the tiny bathroom. Temp markings are BRILLIANT.
